Brief History
In the fall of 2000, Scott Edmonds, former Director of Cartographic Operations for MapQuest.com, established International Mapping. He founded the company with a group of highly experienced cartographers, many of whom started with Scott at Maryland Cartographics, which he ran for nine years prior to its acquisition by MapQuest.com in 1994.
Two years later, International Mapping acquired Equator Graphics—with Alex Tait as its principal—expanding its staff of cartographers and extending its mapping expertise into digital terrain modeling, animation, and interactive maps.
Today, International Mapping combines the collective experience of Scott’s 35 years (including nine as President of Maryland Cartographics), and Alex’s 25 years (including ten years as President of Equator Graphics). They lead a team of seasoned mapmakers, unparalleled in the industry.
