27 December 2004 - 21:00Sports Illustrated and International Mapping Create “Great American Sports Atlas”

Sports Illustrated magazine published its first ever “Great American Sports Atlas” in a special 2004 year-end double issue. Cartographers from International Mapping worked with writer B.J. Schecter and the SI editorial and art staff to create the 32-page atlas.
Over 40 maps cover a diverse range of topics such as birthplaces of Olympic athletes, the history of Major League Baseball franchises and television viewership for NASCAR events. 30 April 2004 - 21:20International Mapping Takes Two Awards in 31st ACSM Cartographic Design Competition

International Mapping cartographers Bruce Daniel and Jim Miller each placed in the 2004 American Congress on Surveying and Mapping (ACSM) 31st Annual Map Design Competition. Jim won Best Interactive Digital map for The Age of the Dinosaurs Flash map, which tells the story of prehistoric earth through animated continental drift and plots dinosaur finds throughout the globe. Bruce received an honorable mention award for his 3D map of the Santa Rosa & San Jacinto Mountains in central California.
This is the second time each cartographer has won an ACSM award. Both winning pieces can be found in the online portfolio under “Electronic Media” (here) and “3D Maps and Geographic Illustrations” (here) sections.
